Willow Springs Soap Company
Welcome to Willow Springs Soap

We are a locally owned Colorado business a stones throw from the Rocky Mountains. Making soap has been our passions for the past several years. We strive to provide a superior product at affordable prices using only the finest ingredients we can find.

Our skin is an amazing living organ that can accept many water soluble substances through the pores. Since it has no discriminating system of detecting good from bad both can enter through the skin. Our handmade soap is made from simple recognizable ingredients which lead to a more natural, earth-friendly, kinder end product.

We make soap in the true sense of the word, using the cold kettle process, with a specially formulated recipe of 100% vegetable oils. All our soaps are super fatted with avocado oil to produce a milder, gentler bar. The difference is a long lasting, hard bar with a wonderful creamy lather.

About our Soap

Our soaps are made the old fashioned way with vegetable oils and Sodium Hydroxide (Lye). This process involves mixing the oils and Lye when they are both at a specific temperature, followed by a lengthy stirring process until the soap is ready to be poured into molds. After 24-48 hours, the soap is un-molded, cut and stored for a 4-6 week curing process. All of our oils are 100% vegetable in origin; these were chosen since they do not block the pores of the skin like animal fats. Essential and fragrance oils are added for scent, cosmetic grade natural pigments and spices for color, and other natural ingredients to impact texture. We also use a process called super fatting in our soaps for a higher moisturizing component. Our recipes have been formulated to provide a hard, long lasting bar of soap.

All of our soaps are individually hand cut, so no two are alike. We aim to produce a 4oz. bar however there may be slight variations in the final weight of the bar. This is due to the curing process whereby the bar looses weight as water evaporates from the soap.

All soaps should be tested on a small area of the skin to make sure irritation does not occur.

Oils

Olive Oil: is an excellent moisturizer, as it has the ability to attract moisture from the air and bring it close to the skin. This not only creates a barrier to hold moisture in the skin but also prevents loss of internal moisture, unlike other substances for this purpose it still allows the skin to breathe.

Palm Oil: When used in soap formulations alongside olive and coconut oil it produces a harder, long lasting bar.

Coconut Oil: Has first and foremost great lathering properties. It is also a good moisturizer and cleanser. Its saturated quality contributes to make a very hard bar.

Canola Oil: Has a high protein content which lends conditioning, and moisturizing properties.

Avocado Oil: Is a very rich oil, high in vitamins A, D & E; proteins and amino acids. These all contribute to making it wonderfully moisturizing and therapeutic oil that can regenerate, heal and soften skin.

Grapefruit Seed Extract: This is an all natural preservative and antioxidant that can extend the life of soap for six to twelve months. It has also been shown to have some antibacterial, deodorizing, and antiseptic properties.
